No one likes to hear they need dental work. We completely understand! Having a practice full of healthy patients is our goal. That is why Lindsay Essenmacher, DDS, focuses on early detection and treatment. We encourage our patients to have regular office visits and to focus on consistent home care so that we can help you avoid many common conditions such as decay, periodontal disease, and bad breath.
Comprehensive Oral Evaluation
When you come in for your first appointment at Essenmacher Family Dental, we will start with a comprehensive exam that gives us an overall picture of your current oral health. In addition to examining each tooth, Dr. Essenmacher will evaluate the health of your gums, your jaw joints and bite, and provide an oral cancer screening that could be life saving.
We use modern technology such as digital dental x-rays to diagnose decay, cracks, cysts, tumors, bone loss, or other conditions. We even have a small intraoral camera that will provide high-resolution images that we can use to explain your treatment and assist in treatment planning.
Diagnostic Dental X-rays
Dental x-rays are still the best way to diagnose what we cannot see with the naked eye alone. Dental x-rays have always been low in radiation, and with digital x-ray technology, their use of radiation is up to 80% lower than traditional film x-rays.
Just like digital photographs, Dr. Essenmacher can zoom in on suspicious areas to see tiny details that allow us to treat decay at its earliest stages before it causes pain or puts your teeth at serious risk.
Professional Dental Cleanings
Even if you are a skilled and avid brusher and flosser, you cannot reach the most out-of-the-way areas of your teeth like just beneath your gum line and between your teeth. Toothbrushes and dental floss will only help to keep tartar and bacteria at bay between professional dental cleanings.
Our skilled hygienists will remove what your toothbrush cannot, using precision instruments that comfortably and efficiently find those small areas where bacteria hide. Our hygienists also provide a wealth of knowledge ranging from proper home care techniques to proper nutrition.
Other Preventive Treatments
Some patients naturally struggle with gum disease more than others. Sometimes genetics play a role along with other factors such as age, dexterity, hormonal changes, and lifestyle factors. For high-risk patients, we offer additional preventive services to help you stay healthy.
CariFree – The innovative CariFree system utilizes cavity-fighting agents such as xylitol and fluoride to help keep your teeth cavity free! CariFree uses easy delivery systems such as rinses, lollipops, sprays, and gum to make it easier for you to fight decay while on the go.
For the convenience of our patients, we carry a wide range of CariFree products in our office. Based on your cavity risk level, we will recommend the products that will be right for you.
Sealants – Dental sealants offer a protective barrier between the deep grooves of your teeth and bacteria. We use sealants to seal the areas of your teeth that are most susceptible to decay.
Fluoride treatments – Topical fluoride treatments not only fight against decay, but also can provide reduced sensitivity for patients who have gum recession or abfractions (surface tooth wear).
We can recommend treatment and products to protect your oral health and provide you with added protection.
