When patients with missing teeth come to our Albuquerque dental office and want a solution, Dr. Lindsay Essenmacher always presents all of your options because what works best for one patient might be very different than what another patient had in mind. One thing is for certain, however, patients who opt for dental implants rave about their results.

Here are the three top reasons why.

1. Dental Implants Blend Right In

If you are worried about metal hardware or a mismatched appearance to your smile, worry no more! Dental implants blend in with your other teeth and look natural when you smile. Since we use porcelain crowns designed just for you, no one will know you have had dental work.

2. Dental Implants Are Reliable

Barring any periodontal disease or other bone-related conditions, your dental implant has the potential to last a lifetime. The dental implant post becomes part of your jawbone and should damage occur to the crown, we can replace it without removing or affecting the implant itself.

Keeping your teeth and gums healthy is essential. Don’t skip brushing or flossing at home and be sure to maintain your preventive dental exams and cleanings.

3. Dental Implants Have No Food Restrictions

A good rule of thumb that we recommend to patients seeking dental implants in our dental office is that if it can break your natural tooth, it can break your dental implant crown.

You should not chew hard candy or ice with your teeth or your implant. Other than some common sense caution, you can chew crunchy veggies, juicy steak, or Albuquerque’s yummy Southwest cuisine without worry.

Dear valued patients,

As many of you know, in response to the recommendations from the American Dental Association and public health orders in place in New Mexico, we have been seeing patients on an urgent/emergency basis only since March 17. As a practice, our first priority is to put the health and safety of our team and community first.

Because the exact trajectory of this pandemic cannot be anticipated, we are unable to accurately predict when we’ll be able to resume seeing patients for regular dental care.  At this time, public health orders prohibiting elective dental care extend until May 15.  However, we will definitely make an announcement on our website and Facebook when normal hours are resumed. We will also be contacting patients whose appointments were canceled so that we can reschedule.

In the meantime, if you have any questions about an upcoming appointment, or have a concern about your teeth that you’d like to discuss, please do not hesitate to call our office.  We are happy to assist you in any way we can.

While we all watch and wait to see what the coming weeks hold for our nation, I pray for health and peace for all of you and those you love.  I know that together, we will get through this. Take care and God bless. Visit our Facebook page for a message from Dr. Essenmacher.

Best Regards,

Dr. Essenmacher
