We Take Care to Work With You

Finances are always an issue - at Essenmacher Family Dental we understand this.  That's why we take great care in estimating dental costs for our patients.   After being presented with a diagnosis and treatment plan, patients often feel overwhelmed.  In most cases, patients have questions about finances and insurance coverage.   We have team members that help patients understand their insurance benefits - we do this in a comfortable, private environment where the patient is encouraged to ask questions.

We Verify Insurance Before the First Visit

At our practice, patients can expect that we verify insurance eligibility and benefits before their first visit.  If there is any part of their appointment that is not going to be covered, we contact the patient and discuss it.  Our patients really appreciate this proactive approach because it empowers them to make decisions about their appointment and finances.

Upon receiving a detailed treatment plan, a team member sends a pre-authorization request to the dental insurance company for the procedures listed.  We then receive a response from the insurance company indicating the patient's estimated payment responsibility and the insurance company's estimated payment.  Many times this process can be accomplished during the patient's visit and the patient will leave here knowing what their out-of-pocket expense is going to be.

In other cases when the pre-authorization cannot be received the same day, we contact the patient by phone, upon receipt, to discuss the results of the pre-authorization.  Again, this enables the patient to budget and plan their treatment and prevents an unexpected expense.

We often discover that patients are unaware of the details of their policy.  Our team members are happy to discuss policy details, for example: in or out of network, deductibles, annual maximums, and frequency limitations.  Our patients are well informed of these details after visiting Essenmacher Family Dental.

Dear valued patients,

As many of you know, in response to the recommendations from the American Dental Association and public health orders in place in New Mexico, we have been seeing patients on an urgent/emergency basis only since March 17. As a practice, our first priority is to put the health and safety of our team and community first.

Because the exact trajectory of this pandemic cannot be anticipated, we are unable to accurately predict when we’ll be able to resume seeing patients for regular dental care.  At this time, public health orders prohibiting elective dental care extend until May 15.  However, we will definitely make an announcement on our website and Facebook when normal hours are resumed. We will also be contacting patients whose appointments were canceled so that we can reschedule.

In the meantime, if you have any questions about an upcoming appointment, or have a concern about your teeth that you’d like to discuss, please do not hesitate to call our office.  We are happy to assist you in any way we can.

While we all watch and wait to see what the coming weeks hold for our nation, I pray for health and peace for all of you and those you love.  I know that together, we will get through this. Take care and God bless. Visit our Facebook page for a message from Dr. Essenmacher.

Best Regards,

Dr. Essenmacher
