Essenmacher Family Dental

Why do I need a crown instead of a filling?

Our dental crowns in Albuquerque, NM are beautiful and practical! Additionally, a dental crown can help a weak tooth remain strong and functional.

Generally, when you have a cavity, we provide a dental filling. However, if a tooth is deeply decayed or if it requires a complex root canal, a dental filling may not be strong enough to keep the tooth healthy and useful. A weak tooth can break and cause further oral health issues, too.

We rely on CEREC technology in Northeast Heights, NM. This means we create natural-looking crowns fast right here in our dental office. These crowns, made of quality ceramic, can often be completed in a single day.

A dental crown is a tooth-shaped cover that goes over a weak or unsightly tooth to keep it strong. Our dental crowns are always colored to match your smile, and no one will know you even have a dental crown!

Dear valued patients,

As many of you know, in response to the recommendations from the American Dental Association and public health orders in place in New Mexico, we have been seeing patients on an urgent/emergency basis only since March 17. As a practice, our first priority is to put the health and safety of our team and community first.

Because the exact trajectory of this pandemic cannot be anticipated, we are unable to accurately predict when we’ll be able to resume seeing patients for regular dental care.  At this time, public health orders prohibiting elective dental care extend until May 15.  However, we will definitely make an announcement on our website and Facebook when normal hours are resumed. We will also be contacting patients whose appointments were canceled so that we can reschedule.

In the meantime, if you have any questions about an upcoming appointment, or have a concern about your teeth that you’d like to discuss, please do not hesitate to call our office.  We are happy to assist you in any way we can.

While we all watch and wait to see what the coming weeks hold for our nation, I pray for health and peace for all of you and those you love.  I know that together, we will get through this. Take care and God bless. Visit our Facebook page for a message from Dr. Essenmacher.

Best Regards,

Dr. Essenmacher
