Dental X-Rays | Albuquerque NM Dental Radiation is Minimal

It’s hard to believe, but a dental radiograph actually exposes you to less radiation than what you get every day just from environmental exposure!  If you fly on a plane, you are exposed to much more radiation than a series of checkup x-rays.  Also, it is important to note that digital x-rays, which are always used at Essenmacher Family Dental, give much less radiation than the traditional film x-rays, and tens to hundreds of times less than a chest x-ray, mammogram or CT scan.  We also always utilize a lead apron with a thyroid collar to help minimize the exposure even further.

At Essenmacher Family Dental, we have many satisfied patients who have undergone the All-on-4 procedure. And as dental professionals, we have been very impressed with All-on-4.

However, this is a complex undertaking—not for the patient but for the dentist—meant to provide a brand-new smile. We don’t recommend seeking out just any dentist.

The skilled cosmetic dentist in our Albuquerque, NM dental office does stunning work!

All-on-4 requires four strategically placed titanium posts across your jaw. These posts are strong enough to support an affixed denture.

With All-on-4, you will no longer have to worry about dentures slipping or coming into our dental office for realigns. There is simply no better denture technology around.

In addition, our dentist makes sure your restoration teeth look natural. No one will even know you have All-on-4!

The process starts with a comprehensive assessment in our dental office. It is during this assessment that our top dentist determines whether you’re a good candidate for All-on-4. This is also a great time to ask any questions that you may have about this innovative denture-meets-implant technology.

replace a missing tooth in Albuquerque, NM | Essenmacher Family DentalWe Offer Options That Work for You

At Essenmacher Family Dental we have several different options to replace missing teeth.  Often the most desired option is a dental implant.  An oral surgeon or periodontist places the post of the implant below the gum line. After healing has occurred and the implant has stabilized in the bone, Dr. Essenmacher will take an impression (mold), and a local, highly skilled dental lab technician will custom create a tooth that fits perfectly in the missing tooth’s place.

Another option to replace a missing tooth is a bridge. A bridge can be used if the missing tooth is in between two existing teeth. The existing teeth would have crowns placed on them and they would be attached to the replacement tooth in the middle.  Both implants and bridges are cemented into place, so they do not come in and out and are very natural-looking replacements for missing teeth.

Partial and Complete Dentures

A partial denture can also be used, and is a reasonable option especially when multiple teeth are missing on one arch. A partial denture is a removable appliance that can have a metal or acrylic base.  Acrylic teeth are then placed on the base to replace missing teeth.  It is held in by clasps that surround the remaining teeth.

If all the teeth are missing, a traditional denture can be used, or we can fabricate a prosthesis that is supported by implants for better retention.

Dr. Essenmacher would be happy to sit down with you and discuss all your options, so we can find the solution that best meets your needs.

Bad breath treatment | Albuquerque, NM | Essenmacher Family DentalAll of us experience bad breath at one time or another. Even if we have a great oral hygiene routine and brush and floss after every meal, this happens sometimes. However, our top Albuquerque dentist recommends coming in for an oral health assessment if bad breath persists.

Common Culprits of Bad Breath May Include:

  • Dental infections
  • Periodontal disease
  • Dry mouth

Less serious issues that cause bad breath include eating certain foods and spices—garlic, for example.

Occasionally, bad breath needs to be addressed by your general practitioner to rule out underlying conditions like acid reflux. However, a thorough dental exam is a great place to start if you’re feeling otherwise healthy.

Our Northeast Heights area dentist can take x-rays to rule out infections. Additionally, our hygienist can provide a thorough professional cleaning to rid your teeth and gums of the stubborn bacteria that leads to bad breath.

At Essenmacher Family Dental, we recommend dental cleanings and exams at least every six months. This helps prevent bad breath and more serious oral health issues like periodontal disease and dental emergencies.
